Chawan, reduction fired stoneware with fawn spotting glaze

This is a beautiful chawan! The kiln and process did some great things with the surface of this piece. It's been blasted with ash and atmospheric conditions that created this amazing effect called Fawn-Spotting or Gohande Spotting.
It's made of rough iron rich stoneware that's covered with a special slip, drawn through, covered with a transparent glaze and and fired in a controlled way to achieve the effect.
It measures 3.5"t x 5"w, great balance and feel in the hand!
Please be aware that this work is fired in a wood kiln and do to the nature of the process will have small imperfections, rough areas or other characteristics which are different from what you might expect from store bought ceramics. It's part of the beauty. I recommend taking special care of these works by hand washing and treating them with attention and respect.
