I find myself simplifying more and more when it comes to wood-fired work. I feel like the nature of the clay and the process really shine when I get out of the way and let the fire decide what will be. That's explains a little bit about the direction of these new works. Here's a teapot that's been left as bare clay on the exterior to create interesting, subtle flashing patterns, it's nice and toasty! This clay responds really well to the flame and natural ash glaze that's created in the wood-kiln. The interior is glazed with a simple celadon glaze.
Perfect for fine gyokuro and sencha, but can be used just like a gaiwan for any tea :) It has a rake type filter built into the gallery and wall of the pot which does a great job of catching very small leaves while allowing the tea to pour out.
This pot measures 3"t (to the top of the knob) x 3"w and at full capacity (without any leaf) it pours approx. 80 ml. It's a cute little pot!
Thanks for looking at my work :))
